Tech support told me that the 8400 UC Software 4.0.0 hasn't been released yet. Tech support also told me that the driver and the UC SW were absolutely necessary for initial setup of the phones. Interesting that phones would be shipped with the necessary SW not released yet. Anyway, he's searching for it for me now. We have been having issues with the Spectralink 8440 handsets not being able to connect if we upgrade the firmware on our AP's above 25.9 We have a new site that by default has gone to a newer firmware version 26.6.1 which we cant downgrade. The Spectralink 8440's are on various firmware versions.

Pack as appropriate, to avoid bending the contacts. Bent contacts can keep the Battery Pack from charging. Only use SpectraLink Battery Packs with SpectraLink chargers. Never use a non-SpectraLink charging unit as it could damage the Battery Pack. Only use the original plug-in power adapter for the chargers. Page 37: Wireless Telephones.
